Media Conference Opening The #ShonowoFreeHerniaSurgery Program
Nigeria is characterised by a very high level of inequality. With a large informal sector and over half of its population living in low income areas, access and ability to pay for proper healthcare is a challenge faced by the majority of Nigerians.
As part of its commitment to making healthcare affordable and available to low-income Nigerians, SHONOWO HOSPITAL has provided an opportunity for free hernia and lump removal surgeries for 200 patients in low income communities.
The Surgery session officially opened on the 15th November with a media conference, and will close at the end of the year.
Past and present beneficiaries were in attendance and spoke to the press about their experience with the free surgery program.
